Get in Touch

Eligibility Requirements for IMGs

Our observership rotation is open to IMGs who have completed their medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) from an IMED-listed medical school. Applicants should have proficiency in English and an active interest in U.S. residency matching. While USMLE Step scores are preferred, they are not required for participation. International graduates from all countries are welcome to apply, and our team can assist with questions about visa requirements for clinical observership programs in the United States. We particularly welcome applicants interested in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residency pathways, as these are the specialties offered through our program. The ideal candidate is motivated, professionally curious, and ready to engage with the U.S. healthcare environment.

Application Process

To apply for an observership rotation at Minneapolis Health Clinic, complete the inquiry form on this page or contact our team directly. We will review your background, discuss your career goals, and schedule an initial consultation. Please have your CV, medical diploma, and USMLE scores (if available) ready. After the consultation, we will match you with the appropriate specialty track and confirm your rotation dates.

Program Duration and Format

Observership rotations typically run 2 to 4 weeks per specialty track, with options to extend for additional exposure if needed. Rotations are conducted in person at our Minneapolis clinic, where IMGs observe patient consultations, participate in clinical discussions, gain exposure to electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and learn about the U.S. healthcare workflow under the guidance of experienced preceptors. Weekly schedules typically include morning rounds, midday clinical discussions, and structured learning time. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate your availability and goals.

Residency Application Support

A key benefit of completing your observership rotation at Minneapolis Health Clinic is the comprehensive residency application support you receive. Our program includes personalized guidance on ERAS application preparation, one-on-one personal statement development and review, mock interviews with constructive feedback, and letters of recommendation from board-certified physicians who have worked directly with you. This structured support helps strengthen your Match application and gives you a competitive edge when applying to residency programs across the United States. Many of our past observers have successfully matched into residency programs after completing their rotation with us.

This individualized consultation program is designed to support IMGs aspiring to match into Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residencies in the United States. Through a series of tailored, one-on-one sessions, we prepare candidates to navigate the transition from international medical practice to the expectations of U.S. residency training.
